Perini Navi is the Italian shipyard based in Viareggio, Italy synonymous with the top quality mega sailing yachts. Founded in 1983 by Fabio Perini, who pioneered automation and furling systems in large sailing yachts, the yard builds both sailing and motor yachts. Hulls and superstructures are built at the company’s facilities in Istanbul, most of the outfitting is carried out in Viareggio, whilst maintenance and refitting is carried out nearby in La Spezia.
Perini Navi’s largest project to date was the 88m Maltese Falcon for repeat client Tom Perkins. Other owners include Rupert Murdoch, Silvio Berlusconi, Turgay Ciner, Gerhard Andlinger, Larry Ellison, George Economou, Massimo Moratti, Bertram R.C. Rickmers and Kenneth P. Weiss. Credited with technical brilliance and first-class designs, the superyacht builder Perini Navi are in a league of their own. In 1982 Fabio Perini designed and built the first prototype of what would go on to prove to be the most successful series of large sailing yachts in the world. To date, Perini Navi have launched 61 yachts which include 58 sailing yachts and three motor yachts. The largest project for this yacht builder was the 88m Maltese Falcon in 2006 for the repeat client, Tom Perkins. This prestigious yacht builder has received numerous awards like the International Superyacht Society Design Award for the Best Power Yacht in the 40-65m range.
